The cable news channels are a victim of their own star power. They dare not interrupt Hume or Nachman or that money dude on CNN.

However, the tabloidy 7pm FoxNews show with Shep Smith will likely be all over this story.

Is there anything on any of the national news channels yet? I know Fox hasn't reported it. I don't get MSNBC.

Why does MSNBC, run by Microsoft, not permit enlarging that tiny postage-stamp-sized video window? Morons.

Reporter states that explosions are slowing down, but the fire is spreading.

That's the streaming server that controls that. They do it to throttle the bandwidth some. Otherwise they couldn't support so many feeds.

Yep. News 2 in Tulsa only has 4-5 one sentence paragraphs about the explosion. Things are scary there...and your comment about their first responders having it under control? I hope you're right.

They want you to buy a large plasma screen TV to see it.

You can select 'full screen'. It's hard to find, but it's there.

I'm not asking for greater resolution, just the ability to enlarge the window displaying the pictures.

"Guess because it happened in flyover country it is not news!"

If Kobe Bryant, Arnold, or Scott Peterson were anywhere nearby you can bet it would be covered. I am getting really sick of the priorities of Fox news. They're getting as bad as the others.

This is way north of Bixby, maybe 15 miles, and winds are usually from the south this time of year, so it would be blowing away from Bixby (and Glenpool, and Sapulpa, and Broken Arrow ...)

Wow! I don't think I know anyone in that area (we lived in Broken Arrow, to the southeast), but this is dreadful!

Explosions rock Tulsa neighborhood, huge fire burns business, homes

By Staff reports 8/18/2003 5:25:00 PM Gas products at a Tulsa distributor exploded Monday afternoon, sending huge fireballs and thick black smoke into the sky and spreading fire to nearby houses, buildings and cars.

Firefighters were dispatched to Airgas Mid South at 31 N. Peoria Ave. around 4:30 p.m.

Rapid explosions continued for at least 15 minutes, while the fire continued to rage and spread just north of Interstate 244 on the Inner Dispersal Loop. Blowing smoke, also forced closing of U.S. 75 as far north at Harvard Avenue

Authorities shut down the highway and evacuated buildings in the area.

Officials blamed fiery debris thrown by the explosions for housefires as far as 500 yards away from the site of the blasts. It was not immediately known if anyone was injured.

Airgas Mid South's parent company, Airgas, Inc., is the largest U.S. distributor of industrial, medical and specialty gases, welding, safety and related products, according to the corporation's Web site. Its integrated network of nearly 800 locations includes branches, retail stores, gas fill plants, specialty gas labs, production facilities and distribution centers, the Web site says.

Airgas Mid South reportedly serves customers from 54 locations in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, North Texas, Missouri, Northern Louisiana, Western Tennessee, and Northwest Mississippi and employs 740 associates.

The Tulsa facility, built in 1945, reportedly employs 50 people.

and your comment about their first responders having it under control? I hope you're right.

Remember what I said about containment.

When the Jim Beam distillery went up in flames here, a few weeks back, the only thing we could do was let 'er burn, but keep the spread down. As it was, the bourbon got into a creek, and we had a minor fish kill downstream, but that was IT.

Keep up updated, all you Sooner FReepers! Fine work!
