Will any of them be spitting on radio talent ala Copeland and the last governor's race? Or will some be turning blue like the nutjob in Montana?

libertarians are nothing but democrats who don't have the decency to call themselves what they are. Socialism, being the defining characteristic of democrats, is diametrically opposed to what libertarians believe and promote.
Can you and those you vote for say the same?

I hear their campaign posters will feature a drawing of the LP candidate tilting at a windmill...

Good idea. They can pull in some Cervantes fans and boost their vote to .6%.
We have a Libertarian candidate in my area who runs perenially for State Assemblyman. He's certifiable, and I'm not exaggerating. He lives on 5 acres that is completely covered with junk of all kinds, from broken washing machines to old television sets. His entire platform is a screed against the local county, that keeps trying to insist that he clean up his property. That's it. He gets about 50 votes each election.
And folks wonder why nobody takes the LP seriously.

Ned Roscoe is a friend of ours. He's a really good guy. That being said, I'm still undecided in how I will vote. I will have to see how it all plays out.

Sounds like some of the LP candidates for state legislature we have here in WA. One of them a few elections back devoted a quarter of his alloted space on the votoers guide to explaining the need to colonize the asteriod belt. Sorry, but I elect state legislators to make laws and pass budgets for Washington State, not to promote their sci-fi vision.
As much as I agree with some of their positions, the Libertarians are not serious people, and cannot seem to field serious candidates. Furthermore from what I have studied of the internal working of the LP they are as obsessed with ideological purity as the most ratchet-jawed Maoist-Marxist.

As much as I agree with some of their positions, I voted Libertarian in the last election, 'cause no Republican ran against my congress critter.
I think many FReepers agree with SOME of the LP platform, but good grief, for the most part they are whack jobs.

I also voted for the Libertarian candidate, whose name escapes me, running in the congressional election against Ellie "Blue Dress" Tauscher in the last election, no Republican candidate. Are we in the same district, perchance? Anyway, I'd heard a radio ad for the libertarian, and read her statement, and her positions sounded eminently reasonable to me, especially her support for the 2nd amendment.

"No New Stupid Laws! California enacts more than a thousand new laws every year. There are more laws already than anyone can obey. Politicians spend too much time trying to design the perfect California."

Does Ned have any weird relatives that post here at FR?
A sort of sibling rivalry might explain our roscoes anti-libertarian obsession.

What about the Constitution Party? Yes, there is one candidate for the American Independent Party (AIP), which is the CA affiliate of the Constitition party. Most of Diane Beall Templin's ideas sound pretty good to me (except her ideas on long prison terms), but I prefer Tom McClintock, who is endorsed by the Republican Liberty Caucus, since he has more of a chance of winning. He's got some libertarian leanings like being for smaller government and more personal freedom. The AIP candidate, Templin, has a website, too, with her policy positions:

Abortion:
"God hates the shedding of innocent blood." [2 Kings 24:4] "I believe in the sanctity of human life including the life of the unborn and don't believe that taxpayers should have to pay for elective abortions." [See Abortion Statement]
Gay Rights:
"I do not believe that 'gays' should be persecuted but should not be entitled to any special privileges. California has adopted domestic partnership laws for gays and Seniors."
Gun Control:
"The Second Amendment of the Constitution provides that the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. What part of 'shall not infringe' do the legislators not understand?"
Immigration:
"We can't afford to provide benefits and service to illegals....[Let's m]ake our borders more secure with National Guard, and patrol the California coastline."
American Independent Party of California Platform
"I will govern according to the principles embodied in the platform of the American Independent Party of California." [See Platform]

What about the Constitution Party? You'd a thunk they would've had a wannabe in the mix The American Independent Party is the "California affiliate" of the Constitution Party.
Previously, the American Independent Party was a national party (founded by George Wallace in 1968). In the 1970s it split apart, and there are now several American Parties floating out. In the 1980s, the California American Independent Party was the "California affliate" of the Populist Party, then the U.S. Taxpayer's Party, and now the Constitution Party.
