California Republican Liberty Caucus supports McClintock

California Republican Liberty Caucus endorses Sen. Tom McClintock for Governor The California Republican Liberty Caucus has announced its support of Senator Tom McClintock in the upcoming recall of the disastrous Gray Davis. The State Board of the California RLC has issued the following statement: “Tom McClintock’s broad experience, proven team-building talents and positions on key issues make him the best choice for California. He is a committed and effective advocate of small government and individual liberty. In a field that exceeds 100 candidates, Tom stands out as the one with the best chances of rescuing California from the deep hole Gray Davis has dug for it. In particular, Tom McClintock has identified three key policies to revitalize California’s economic climate and reverse the tide of red ink, irresponsibility and conflict-of-interest that have characterized the past four years of single-party control of Sacramento: (1) Rescind the tripling of the car tax; (2) Void $42 billion in overpriced electricity contracts, and (3) Reform the workers compensation system. “Tom McClintock is running a grass-roots campaign. He is not a millionaire funding his own campaign. He is counting on concerned Californians to propel his candidacy with their own energy and enthusiasm. Tom is one of the good guys in Sacramento and well-deserving of every citizen’s support. The California Republican Liberty caucus (http://ca.rlc.org) urges every Californian to support the most experienced, principled and proven candidate in the race: Senator Tom McClintock.” The Republican Liberty Caucus is a grass-roots group devoted to core Republican principles of individual rights, limited government and free enterprise. The RLC works actively to elect candidates and voter initiatives that advance liberty and support Thomas Jefferson’s credo, “He governs best who governs least.”

I think (or rather I hope) you know that is not what I am saying. Those who lost previous elections didn't lose because they were movie stars. They lost because the other person campaigned better than them.

Perhaps what I said, was a bit too subtle for you. Try reading it again, I'm confident you can figure it out. ;)

To that argument, I am calling into question how Candidate Arnold is campaigning now. He has no platform.

Ummmm....I think the point I've been trying to make to you is that Arnold has obviously not started his campaign just yet. And yes, he has not articulated his platform a whole week after announcing his candidacy. It is hard to wait for most people these days.

The facts don't support this assertion. At last count, Candidate Arnold is getting only 10% of the Democratic vote and 31% of the Republican vote. That means he is pulling fewer votes from Bustamante than he is from McClintock and Simon combined.

Key words, "last count". We have several weeks to go. Hmmm...noticed you didn't provide the full poll breakdown. ;)

Near as I can tell, the only reason he even has a spike in the polls is because of his celebrity status. That strikes me as pretty incompatible with his capability to lead.

Yes, he has a great deal of charisma. That always helps with the voters, remember Simon? As I said, the race is Arnold's to lose. If he comes out wrong on the issues, asta la vista baby. If he comes out right, the govenator it will be.

Apart from original vocation, Arnold has nothing in common with Ronald Reagan and I really wish people would stop trying to tie Reagan's legitimacy and legacy with Arnold's run for the governor's office.

If you don't want people to make the comparison, don't dis Arnold because he's a actor.

"The RLC works actively to elect candidates..."

How many have they elected?

How about you just speak it plainly? I like flowery subtlety, but I prefer things candid.

Yea, I guess you are the simple minded type.

According to a lot of Arnold supporters, we don't have much time for dalliance.

I've noticed you seem to use the rhetorical device of referring to the opinions of "others" quite alot, instead of your opinion, no need to worry, your opinion is as good as anyone elses.

Yes, it is not easy to be patient, especially when there are already two other candidates with fully elucidated their platforms. And they made their candidacies known just a few days before Arnold.

They are quick aren't they! A whole week ahead of the Terminator. That's impressive! They are definitely more prepared to govern for sure.

True. And history is resplendent with the aftermath of political leaders who are brought to power largely on their charismatic qualities.

And here you are bringing up Reagan again. Sigh. I can only assume it because you weren't that specific. Do you, or do you not want to compare Ronald and Arnold. Whoa!

RONALD
ROANLD
RAONLD
ARONLD
ARNOLD

It's a sign! Unbelievable! I'm definitely going to vote for Arnold now! Can't wait to spread the word! Thanks for your help!

People were making the comparison long before I voiced an objection to it.

Pssst...more of that referring to others opinions rather than your own thing. Really, your opinion is as good as anyones.

Besides, my least concern about Arnold is his acting career. My larger concern is that voters are confusing Arnold the Actor with Arnold the Candidate. I'm still dealing with people who think Arnold can't be anti-Second Amendment because of his movies.

Seems like we are on the same page. Quit trying to shoot in the dark on Arnold's position on issues, and wait for him to state them first.
