Tancredo wants 20,000 Border Guards on the Mexican border. At $50,000 per, that's $1 billion in salaries and benefits.

P> According to FOX News, “Last spring, he launched an e-mail petition drive calling for the deployment of as many as 20,000 federal troops to the 6,000 miles of northern and southern U.S borders.”

So, that was for both borders. Plus, $50K sounds a little high for a typical soldier. Where did you get that number?

OK, just for kicks, let’s say it costs a billion a year; That’s about $10 per taxpayer. With all the stupid things Bush has been spending our money on, (including sending $15 billion of our money to Africa just because those people can’t it through their heads that you’re not suppose to stick things where they don’t belong) I’d say $10 is a great deal.

If the federal government won’t perform one of its most basic and vital functions - protecting out borders, then tell me where to send my $10 to someone who will. I’ll even make it $20 to make up for people like you.

A country that does not enforce the security of its borders ceases to be a nation!

" In 40 years, there'll be forum where Americans of Mexican heritage will be bitching about the surge of Trinidaddios and Tobagoneers taking their jobs and not assimilating into American culture."

In 40 years, America will be so balkanized and socialistic as to be unrecognizable. Currently, it's barely the Constitutional Republic it was designed to be. Glad I'll be dead.

P.S., Where did you get that list?

Oh, but Arnie. Don't you know this is all 100 percent Bush's fault?
/sarcasm

Don't spoil the illusion, man. What will all the screamers have to whine about here on FR?

Glad I'll be dead.

With my luck, I’ll still be alive and at the mercy of those Bolsheviks. Even if I’m not, I expect my children and grandchildren will be. That is if they survive the UN re-education camps.

If we’re screaming, it’s because we’re not blind, deaf or dumb.

No Luis, but you have to at least admit that 90 percent of the people who climb onto these threads have zero to add, except laying this all at the Presidents feet - which is completely misguided.

And probably close to half of them hate Hispanics period, so they'll never have anything productive to add. I think that's where Arnie s coming from.

[It's particularly important to secure the border, he said, because it isn't used only by Mexicans seeking employment.

"Huge numbers" of Middle-Easterners frequently cross the border, often helped by Mexican drug gangs who charge $30,000 for the use of their expertise, he said.]

This is not about hating Hispanics, it is about protecting our country and jobs. Many Hispanic American citizens are for better border control.

Do you know what their going wage is? Do you know if they earn LESS than an 'American citizen' would? Do you know if they have 'American taxes' deducted...or are they paid 'under the table'?

Just curious.

Missing the point of my post alert!

I don't disagree one bit about needeing to change the current border setup.

Maybe you don't fall into the percentages I mentioned. That's great. I'm talking about people who do, i.e. bigots and people too unaware/dense to understand how things work to blame anyone but Bush.

And I suspect most of the misguided ones are simply bitter because their particular candidate didn't get chosen to run in 2000.

I've never understood why these mandates, approved by millions of Californians, are allowed to be nullified by the fiat of a single judge.

You and me both. And apparently Elliott Gigantalope as well. Defies logic.

There is no limit to the number of honest, hard working, productive and inspired individuals that are welcome in America. No limit, ever. We've got room for hundreds of millions more.

Maybe if the vast majority of these hundreds of millions of additional immigrants that you feel we have room for primarily settled in areas in those states that still have a lot of wide open spaces such as Montana, Idaho, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Alaska, and parts of Arizona, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, and New Mexico, then maybe it could be workable. But if most of these hundreds of millions of additional immigrants follow the pattern of past immgrants and settle primarily in our major cities, then it would become hellish for all big city residents, Americans and immigrants alike.

It already is unworkable and filthy in our biggest cities due to unrestricted illegal immigration.

PS, don't feed those trolls ;)

The Brigader/Paleo jacknobs consider fear and loathing a virtue. No, they consider it a political platform.

And probably close to half of them hate Hispanics period,

Just for the record, I don't hate anyone, except Commies.

What many others and I object to is the simple fact many Hispanics are coming here illegally. They are criminals by their very presence here. Are politicians are not doing anything about it. I believe it's because many of them are bought off by interests who are profiting by the presence of illegal aliens.

That's what I have a problem with. I believe that some here on FR who don't what to hear it have a vested interests and ulterior motives as well.
