Yet another who's mother picked his name from a bowl of alphabet soup. When/why did this guy come to power? I've only heard of him in the past few months.

It may have come from a bowl of alphabet soup but his mother didn't give it to him. He renamed himself.

His mother gave him "Frizzell "Pee Wee" Gray".

Actually, I think this guy picked his own name. I don't know what his mother named him, but it probably was nothing like this. All this name changing that a lot of black guys do has something to do with some sort of religion, I think--

Don't blame Mfume's mother. Back in the 50s when he was born nobody was even thinking about giving their kid an Arabic name.
