This is horse-hockey.

This is not a "change" in the voting process a la Floriduh.

This is an application of the existing voting law.

It's ridiculous, but appropriately Orwellian for the Dems.

From your lip to God's ears. The Voting Rights Act is a tricky thing, and I don't understand it well.. from what I do know, I think the potential legal problem here is quite real. What I can absolutely guarantee is that the issues will be dealt with in Judge Fogel's court in the manner the law requires.

Fogel ordered Monterey County not to mail out its overseas ballots until the issues are resolved.

I disagree with you. Fogel already tipped his hand by barring the overseas ballots. You only take this step if you have pretty much made up your mind to delay the election. If you are leaning the other way, you don't do this.

The governorship of CA means hundreds of millions of dollars for the democrat party in donations, and patronage jobs. It may mean billions in regulatory laws. These amounts of money and power will force even a moderately honest demorat into ruling the wrong way. Enough judgeships and patronage jobs are at stake alone to possible have his life threatened.

To repsond to the first part: Buffett is right. Our porperty taxes are artifically low. that is because the voters many years ago mandated a less burdensome system. Now if the Oracle from Omaha goes to the next level and advises Arnold to raise them. Well then I'll join the butt kicking party!!!

The second part about the poll numbers had me quite skeptical as well. But it is possible to get those poll numbers. If you survey say one thousand people and call only in Orange County (they will split between Schwarz, Simon and McKlintock) and the balance of the calls in San Francisco (heavily democrat). At this point, I really don't buy that poll.

"What's going on?"

The Federalies have been emboldened and are now essentially saying that they are in control, and they no longer fear the citizen. They are saying that we are a gutless of cowards afraid to make the ultimate sacrifice for our posterity. I'm afraid they are right.

It's going to get worse.

"God how longs for a real leader."

Real leaders exist, but they are drowned out by those who long for a perfect leader. Look at how those who stand up for any one particular issue are treated. They are villified, their motives questioned, their familiy attacked, etc, etc.(Tancredo, Judge Moore come to mind)

Why would anyone want to throw their name out into this arena, to be attacked by those very people he/she is trying to help.

Your Question: "Why would anyone want to throw their name out into this arena, to be attacked by those very people he/she is trying to help."

Response: To rephrase: Would any self respecting individual participate, in any fashion, in any part of the electoral process?

There is no civil war coming. When you post stories about gay and atheist armies being formed, be sure to ping me so that I can quickly change my opinion.

Don't be so smug, there are loyal, righteous, and stouthearted individuals among us who will make it happen if pushed too far.

As to the deviants among us, I rather doubt we will ever see organized battalions of sodomites and atheists, but they do seem intent on waging a war of ideas through the press and television entertainment. For now, they have a bully pulpit of sorts, but I would guarantee that there are many patriots out there that will not let this country fall into the hands of the followers of Caligula without a fight.

"This is not a "change" in the voting process a la Floriduh. "

The problem as I understand it is that the recall election will be organized somewhat differently than a regular one. There will be fewer polling places, and the argument is that this will put an unfair burden on minorities who must find different polling places than they are used to. In essence, minorities are too dumb to find out where to vote. Since this change may be due to financial problems, lower income counties may make more changes than more affluent ones.

People on this thread do not understand the Rat strategy. The idea is simply to delay the election until March. This allows time for the natural momentum of the recall to dissipate, for the economy to improve, and for the Davis slime machine to work its machinations. Also IIRC, there is a normal election set for March where it is believed more Dem's will show up than in October when the anti-Gumby mob will assault their polling places with pitchforks and torches in hand.

I am very worried about this lawsuit. It is the only avenue for the Fed's to intervene in a State matter. Delaying until March would be the perfect legal compromise that judges love to come up with. Keep in mind that Grayout has compared the recall to a Hollywood movie, using an Arnold metaphor, and has promised a "surprise ending"!

Every important election from now on will end up in the courts. algore set the precedent by not allowing the Florida House of Representatives, according to law, to determine who won.

Note the lack of military service even though he was of prime draftable age during Vietnam (I'm sure his student deferment kept him in school right up until the end of the draft). Bet this jerk was a rioter at Stanford as well.

In essence, minorities are too dumb to find out where to vote.

And also, possibly, depriving minorities in lower-income groups of an "accessible" polling place could be construed as an attempt to deprive them of their legal right to vote. I.e., not all people with the right to vote have the means to go anywhere to do so.

The same federal government that stepped in and burned our ballots and declared our free election of Proposition 187 in California, illegal.

There's probably more truth in your statement than you might realize. Many people believe that is precisely what's going on.

You're exactly right.....the perverts have the lapdog useful media idiots falling all over themselves to present to the public an image of a lifestyle that thrives on anonymous sex with multiple partners, animals, objects, etc. as "healthy and normal". Meanwhile the biggest problem the rest of us have who are trying to save this country is that there is no effective platform to get the truth out to a public that lives in a KOBE-SCOTT PETERSON-AMERICAN IDOL-OZZY OSBOURN stupor. The political/media structure in this country has been seriously co-opted ......in other words, we've been sized up, set up and are in the process of being sold out.

"With each passing day, the terrible drumbeat of a coming civil war gets closer. If the atheists and sodomites want a fight, then me and mine are prepared to stand as patriots against them."

Nah, that's not going to happen. So, there's some i-dotting and t-crossing going on here. The election will take place, either in October or at another time.

Far better that all the nonsense gets sorted out _before_ the election than having things held up _after_ the election.

You're not going to start shooting anyone. Are you even from California?

Don't talk about what you do not know, please. You can diss Davis using his record. Get your facts right. But he did serve in the military. He was an Army Captain, during VietNam and earned a Bronze Star. See below, taken from:

"Governor Gray Davis of California

Birth Date: December 26, 1942

Family: Married
Religion: Catholic
Spouse: Sharon
Party: Democrat

Military Service: Army
Wars Served: Vietnam
Awards/Honors: Bronze Star"
