I AM A Radical Centrist with an urge to speak freely coursing through my veins. So I squirmed with delight when former Gov. Pete Wilson blurted out on a talk show a few days back that Arnold Schwarzenegger voted for Proposition 187 in 1994 and thinks illegal immigration is a problem for California.

Jill Stewart is a centrist Democrat who would have supported Riordan in the last election. I'm a big fan of her column because she hates Davis as much as we do.
I don't know why she bothers trying to conceal her obvious delight at Arnold's candidacy. Arnold was tailor-made for her and similar people.
This is why Arnold's not too worried about the McClintocks of the world. He's counting on Jill and people who feel similar to her, and I would be very surprised if his confidence is misplaced.

Another reason for the team's serenity: it realizes the ghost of Proposition 187 is not going to swing this election.
It's far too early to say how 187 is going to affect the recall and replacement election.
With Cruz "La Raza" Bustamante and CA Dem Chairman Art Torres making 187 an issue, and with Illegal Alien driver's licenses working their way to the Governor's pen, Arnold is going to need to make an unequivocal statement about the whole problem of Illegals, and either stand firm with 187, or lose a heckuva lot of votes.

I heard that Bill Simon said he would "oppose" a new Prop. 187

Norm-The WSJ has a lenghty front page article about Warren Buffett where he opines that CA. should alter Prop 13 so that real estate property taxes can be raised more easily. Warren is the definition of limosine liberal. One thing the GOP and most people in this state will agree on is that they do not want Prop 13 touched. I am sure the Dems are going to make these statements a target for their ads against Arnold even though most Dems want Prop 13 changed much the way Warren discussed. This is one of the problems with RINO's, they take advise from people that express views counter to the mainstream GOP views. This is not the last mistake Arnold and his crew is going to make. Too many mistakes and Arnold is toast just like Gray. That means Cruz will be Governor.

Here's the problem though that the big government types face with Prop. 13: as a result of the initiative election in 1978, what was "Prop. 13" is now "Article XIIIA of the California Constitution." That means Prop. 13 can't be "altered" without a constitutional amendment, and that won't be easy even for Warren Buffet.

The libs are going to go after income producing properties and make it easier to tax these types of properties. They are hoping that people will not notice that if property taxes goes up the landlord passes the added expense on to the ultimate consumer. Also on the ballot, next year, will be an effort by the libs to reduce the percent required for new taxes in the state legislature from 2/3rds to 55%. These libs have no shame.

I agree that raising taxes is NOT the solution, and that liberals and Democrats have never absorbed the lesson of the old "Goose that Laid the Golden Eggs" story. All I'm saying is that if they want to hike property taxes and do away with the 2/3 budget rule, they're going to have to amend our state constitution here in California to do it. And that---knock on wood---won't be easy.

As a previous card carrying member of the Teamsters and the AFL-CIO, organized labor has got to decide whether they represent the legal immigrants and citizen members. Or if they are going to continue to pander to those illegals who drain the working pool and pull the price of labor down, down, down. Time to fish or cut bait my brothers and sisters! The leadership votes "D" while the membership votes "R". VOTE4MCCLINTOCK or pay the consequences!

Warren is the definition of limosine liberal. One thing the GOP and most people in this state will agree on is that they do not want Prop 13 touched. I have an idea...let's just introduce an ammendment to Prop 13 that allows for the quadrupling of property taxes on property valued over $1 Million, every year for 5 years...after all, if "Buffet the Conservative Slayer" only pays ~$2000 on his $4 Million property, quadrupling that will not "hurt"...right Warren < wink >?
