Isn't this just horrible?! Didn't I read not that long ago, that NY paid some exorbitant sums to put up homeless people for weeks in 5-star hotels, and they couldn't pick up the tab to put those poor people up in some hotels? I think the hotel owners would have given them a discount, so it would all have been "legal". But I agree with you, many times people don't dare do things for fear of being sued, because "no good deed goes unpunished".

Keep in mind that most hotels use the key cards to enter the rooms. There is no way to open the doors without power. There will be no airconditioning and no water in any of the rooms.
Being in a dark hotel room, no fresh air, no water is not manageable.
