This is the problem with the current security problem. Those of us who like to carry "survival" gear with us when we travel are not allowed to do so.
I like to carry items such as flashlights, Leatherman tool, etc. in case of emergencies. Not allowed anymore.
We've been reduced to helpless sheep.

I also USED to carry a small pocket knife, but that had to go, too. My money clip had a small pair of scissors that folded into it, that had to go, too. My key "fob" was a steel ring 4" in diameter (allowed the keys to be an effective weapon when the ring was held the fingers of one hand and the keys swung, it also meant that I could put my keys on my wrist quickly thus giving me free hands for my children), that, too, is now gone. As a woman and mother I carried these for protection and personal comfort. Now, when I travel I can't easily handle any of the common emergencies because all my gear is considered too dangerous.
