BTW, anyone talking about people trapped in elevators? Must be a bad scene in NYC.

Heard reports that over 200,000 plus may be trapped in elevators and subways....Dang...

Two dozen people are trapped in the building where I work in NYC. I missed it by 10 minutes.

I'm at home. Things are calm. No police foot in the areas I walked up from Lower Manhattan across West 14th. Transition time. Calm.

Runs on water, supplies. Orderly. Volunteers directing foot and car/bus traffic. Walked up the middle of Broadway with an orderly process on either side.

So far, it's as calm as 9|11, without the stunned atmosphere.

Many emergency lights in buildings should begin to go out soon. Will be iffy for those trapped in elevators.

Best to all. I have a radio and am using my laptop with a battery.

If I had my choice, I'd rather be stuck in a subway. You're underground so it has to be cooler, plus a subway car is not as claustraphobic.

Being stuck in an elevator on a hot day like this has to really suck, especially if the elevator car is full, which there is a good chance that most were, since this happened at 4:00 PM EST on a business day.
