You do know the military uses high end, off the shelf, networking equipment manufactured by companies like Cisco and Juniper don't you. It's not a good idea to give China easy access to the latest and greatest hardware used to move logistical data. The Aegis system is built from COTS hardware and software and low-and-behold the ChiComs are announcing the development of a new Aegis class destroyer

What stops the Chi-coms from buying or smuggling the same "off the shelf" stuff. The difference is with the Clintons is that they sold them for campaign contributions from the Chi-Coms.

I agree with you that military secrets should be protected as much as it is humanly possible and not sold for campaign contributions, but what about normal day to day business operations such as the cost of doing business. Shouldn't a business owner have the right to go to the place where his/her dollar gets the most bang for the buck.

BTW, earlier on this thread I noted that self-serve check out lines now lets one checker do the job of four, thus outsourcing three checker jobs.

Should this practice be banned?

A more current example would be: a business brings in 4 H1b visa workers for the price of one American. Hey, its just economics.

There's a big difference in sending them in bulk so they can keep parts on hand vs. making them smuggle them out of the country.

Don't ban the auto-checker because more skilled and higher paid workers depend on it's development. So your checkers that pay no taxes are replaced by a development team that pays approximately 20k each year over year. If the checkers want to they can develop the skills neccessary to develop their own auto-checker. Automation generally leads to more high paying jobs, offshoring just eliminates them.

I keep seeing "buggy whip maker" arguments coming from you and they don't hold water for one simple reason.

In each industry that has become obsolete, a new industry has risen to absorb the workforce that was made obsolete.

With offshoring, no industry becomes "obsolete" and there is no new industry to absorb the workers.

In terms of automation, generally, possibilities are created within the automation industry which absorb workers from the industry being automated.

Its cyclical in case nobody has noticed, but I see the demogagues here (as usual) can't see beyond their food dish. Woe to them when Uncle Adolf Stalin comes to take it away from them.

I hope you like a Communist/Socialist paradise because we're going to get it with that attitude.

Oh, please. Stop being obtuse.

Next you'll start whining about the demise of full-service gas stations.
