When the Republican party gained the majority in the House of Representatives in the 1994 elections, thus displacing 40 years of Democrat one-party rule in the House, Gephardt compared it to a coup d'etat. In the minds of elitists and petty wanna-be tyrants like Gephardt, the will of the people as expressed through elections is wrong, unless it results in the "correct" outcome. That probably explains the past allegations of vote fraud in Gephardt's district - it was evidently necessary to assure the "correct" outcome no matter what the voters wished. After all, he deserves to be the leader of the ruling class, and he will not be denied his due.
