As Allan Carlson has so pithily observed, the future belongs to the fertile. If English-speaking Californians want to preserve their culture, all they have to do is outpropagate the immigrants. If they're unwilling to make that commitment to the future, their culture doesn't deserve to survive.

Personally, as someone from a Latin culture (New Orleans), I think the American work ethic could benefit from a little joie de vivre. I see nothing to fear in a more Catholic, less materialistic nation.
