Cool. God only knows how many Qumrans have yet to be turned up!
Wouldn't it be nice if cutting-edge 18th-century scholars like The Jesus Seminar fellows would notice the trend in archaeology?
Dream on, Dan!

Deir al-Surian is in what was once called the Holy Desert of Scetis, in Wadi al-Natrun, a valley 60 miles south of Alexandria.I guess it would be too much of an expectation for it to be a branch of the library of Alexandria.

Interesting. I wonder what is the content.
BTW, please put me on your ping list for these types of articles. Thanks.

This reaffirms Acts 8:27-40, doesn't it?

We have a bishop in Chicago who closely follows the Jesus Seminar.
He recently exhorted his people to be faithful to the biblical tithe.
He found a passage of scripture he likes! (The ones about giving money ....:>)

branch of...Alexandria
Do you think the library cards at the main library was also good at the branches? :>)
I predict that anything they discover will support the scriptures as we currently have them.

Since the Eunuch was heading down the road from Jerusalem in the direction of Egypt through Gaza, then I'd agree with you.

I predict that anything they discover will support the scriptures as we currently have them. And that the Jesus seminar will still be counting beads.

Those guys are old liberals. (Liberals seem to be getting older and older and not reproducing.....hmmmm...could it be the message they're proclaiming....not many younguns gettin' inspired to follow their "no savior, do what you want" philosophy...who'd a thunk it.)
Most of 'em count more sheep in their old age than they count beads. :>)

Yeah, I thought I'd seen something like this before, but I stumbled across it this morning while looking up something else, and this particular article didn't turn up when I ran a search. Plus, it has pictures!

If these manuscripts are only 1500 years old, they may be just scribblings of theological students. Not important.
