Dr. Rice was making an argument for working to reconstruct Iraq in a way that is both safer for us and better for its people. If it were indeed true that the neocons were megalomaniac imperialists, why aren't they jumping at the chance to go into Liberia? Why haven't they volunteered American troops for the other African ventures like Ivory Coast that France and the UN have tried to involve us in over the past few months? Africa has lots of natural resources - perfect fodder for the megalomaniac imperialist.
Could it be instead that they're fighting wars only to protect American interests? And that arguments in favor of helping Iraqis help us at the same time? Not everything is zero-sum, you know.

Maybe because we have three fourths of our trained combat troops over seas. We must really fell a threat to invasion and other nations to have so many troops over seas?
