But I haven't yet seen a definitive description from a self-described neocon of what, exactly, they stand for.

That's because even they don't know exactly what they stand for. Ask them what they believe and they will keep their answers as ambiguous as they can: "We stand for freedom and U.S. leadership. We like to put America first." Sounds good and conservative, but lacks specificity. The reason for that is because many of their positions are blatantly unconstitutional.

I think all of their efforts have been in reconciling their positions to some continuity of conservative thought but they use the lamest most embarassing logic and rhetoric one can imagine.

'They hate us for our freedom, 9-11 changed everything, nuke Mecca'...these are just a phrases but they have turned into an ideology that transcends reason and operates only on a militaristic emotional plain.
