I thought Crawford was the neatest town! I really like a sleepy little laid back town. I did check out the welcome sign and actually had my picture taken in front of it. I loved seeing the cardboard cutout of Dubya in the restaurant, but there were a Barbara and a Poppy cut out there too. Way cool!
The 112 degree day was the day before we got there. It was 106 the day we went to Crawford. It seemed just like home actually. Central California's weather is very similar to yours.
And I have to agree with you, Dubya could have at least invited me to the ranch considering I took the time and trouble to find out how to get there! That was the day he had Cheeney, Rumsfield, and Rice there. What difference would one more person have made? It was pretty exciting being as close as we were though.
It think the countryside is gorgeous there. I wasn't expecting Texas to be as beautiful as the parts that we visited were.
I would have loved to have gotten together with you. Maybe next time? :-D
::::::Beaming at Mtngrl's good taste:::::Thank you. It's not as lush as East Texas, but has its own special beauty. When I read articles from the press corps that describe Crawford and Waco as dusty and desolate, I wonder if the writer has some ax to grind, because they sure never looked around past the fields along the highways. Definitely if you come again, we will make plans to meet. I started to suggest it this time, but knew you were a mother on a mission to see her son! I hope you found him well and enjoyed your time with him.
