Prayer bump for Logan. (Did I understand correctly that he's lost weight?)

They usually do a little bit after they're born. I'm not a nurse or doctor....but yeah, I think they always do.
I HAVE been wrong b/4....

All babies lose a little weight after they are born. It's good if they can regain it within a couple weeks after they are born. I'm sure it's a little different though when they are born this young. I think they usually eat with a feeding tube rather than being nursed or bottle fed. Him kicking and reacting to mommy sounds like he's got strength!

It's normal for a newborn to lose some weight as they transition before they start really gaining (docs usually let new parents know this off the bat, so they don't flip out) - obviously for a child this size it's significant.
But children almost half his weight have gone on to thrive - so I have high hopes for the little guy! The fact that he's responding so soon to his mom's presence is a really positive sign.
God bless him.

It's not uncommon for babies to lose weight, particularly preemies. My daughter lost several ounces before she built her weight back up enough to come home.
Still, with one so small, even a fraction of an ounce seems so much.
Prayers!

losing weight after premature birth is common, pray that the little guy will absorb nutrients and grow strong!
