This is prior to China obtaining Most Favored Nation status that Clintoon advocated too. The article is entitled CHINA'S ENTRY TO TRADE GROUP IN OUR INTEREST, CLINTON SAYS--Partnership will build peace, critics told as premier arrives.

According to the article, "China's admission into the WTO, the international body created in 1995 to regulate international commerce, is 'profoundly in our national interest.' Clinton said in hastily arranged speech to the U.S. Institute for Peace."

"International Commerce" translates to stealing your nation's secrets.
