I wonder how the leftist-saturated University of California, which runs LLNL, manages to assuage its conscience for helping to develop ever more powerful weapons for our military?

Another Tom Clancy special (from, IIRC, Clear and Present Danger)

Because of recent military activities in Iraq and Afghanistan, some of our armament resources are depleted and have to be replenished. Now is a good time to bring in the newer technology,” says Murphy.

Ping to Kim Jong Il.

Pinging the Opecker Thugs and Princes of the Middle East as well as short donged Kim, the Chia head.

More new weapons to kill the thug leaders and not harm innocent civilians. Thug leaders can hide and still be killed.

"However, the blast created by conventional steel-cased munitions can send shrapnel to distances of more than 1 kilometer from the target. This puts civilians and friendly forces at risk."

Attention: lesson One of 9/11/2001: There are no civilians. There are no non-combatants.

"Collateral damage" is good.

Pinging the Opecker Thugs and Princes of the Middle East as well

Nice addition to this thread; bad of me to leave them off the list.

--agreed. There obviously wasn't nearly enough "collateral" damage to Saddam supporters in the Iraqi military--

I agree, we should make weapons that kill MORE people and break MORE things....not less.

My first thought as well. But, Clancy's creation was encased in cellulose, rather than composites -- so that it had a lower radar cross-section.

The weight reduction has significant potential just because it can increase payload or range (because more fuel can be carried instead).

Question: "I wonder how the leftist-saturated University of California, which runs LLNL, manages to assuage its conscience for helping to develop ever more powerful weapons for our military?"

Answer: They sell the technology to China.

I disagree. We're not them. Indiscriminate killing if necessary, but avoiding "collateral damage" can give us a bunch of immediate allies who have been oppressed by the monsters. Not all will appreciate it, but hunting down the holdouts is OK when the rest of the populace is on our side.

How exactly does vaporizing a bunch of peasants "pay back" for 911? The hijackers were well to do individuals.

Thanks for the ping and the post. Loose lips sink ships means little these days with internet technology and ambitious traitors like the Clintons. The one thing tyrannical nations can never do with their military - no matter how big or powerful - is inspire them to do what ours did in both Afghanistan and Iraq - w/ our multiple forces working together toward a common goal, skilled enough to get the intel, interpret it and hit those precision targets, fly thousands of sorties without losing a pilot, fighting for freedom, a future for their family, for those who died in previous battles and the victims on the ground in NY and Iraq.

Saddam filled schools and warehouses, booby-trapped hospitals and homes in communities across Iraq. The Iraqi people not only chose not to use them against us, the many opportunities for one stray missile or flare to hit a bomb filled school and level a city block, potentially killing thousands - never happened.

We were most definitely wanted in Iraq by the vast majority of the Iraqi people.

Wonder how hard it's going to be to find those pieces of
carbon fibre lodged in the brain/organs?

Ah progress.

When they get to where they can load the DNA of a specific
individual into a weapon, then they will be getting somewhere..........maybe Arrakis?
