No he wouldn't. The "G" man doesn't end sentences with prepositions. It's one of his pet peeves. Winston Churchill once said that ending sentences with prepositions was something up with he would not put.

CNN gets its history from watching the Hollywood movie archive. Just take a little from The Final Countdown (1980) and verify it with Dr. Strangelove (1963).

Then, unless the USAF Museum is wrong, FOX was correct when they stated "B-29."
(an earlier post on this thread stated it was an F-22

Anyone who is interested in the history of air combat needs to visit the US Air Force Museum at Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton. You can spend a day looking at historically important aircraft.Actually, you had better schedule two days to rummage through the museum, there's just too much to look at and study that one day is not enough.
But getting back to the "meat" of this thread...CNN used the description of a B-52 dropping the "bomb" because, as everyone knows, the B-52 is the US Nuclear Bomber and has been for decades. The reporting ninnies didn't take History classes in High School or College. And what little history they were exposed to was so much watered down, PC-laden crapola that highlighted exploitation of everybody by the bad europeans. They can't help it, their knowledge base has been shaped from a (brief) lifetime of having opinion shoveled into their mush-like brains instead of actually reading and studying factual texts.

If CNN were more interested in presenting facts than leftist propaganda, mistakes like this would never happen.
But this is Ted Turner's baby isn't it?

Anybody out there know for sure?I did a search on the web, and came up with "The B-52A first flew in 1954, and the B model entered service in 1955." as the same answer. My dad in law flew in the Korean War, but did not fly the B-52. The clintoon news network has it all wrong again. Not big news to me.

Col. Paul W. Tibbets, Jr. pilot of the Enola Gay B-29, which dropped the A-bomb over Hiroshima, has been restored and is to go on display late this year,I didn't know they could restore pilots. Good job! You too can qualify as a copywriter at CNN.

Could be, but I found this info at a military aircraft website.
You are correct about retrofits (tho' I don't remember which model(s)), which took place in the 80's, as I did cost analysis on the electrical systems proposed/provided by Westinghouse ESD, then at Lima, OH.
In the late '60s-early 70's I had the fortunate experience seeing this magnificent plane (ugly, but deadly) at the airfield in Guam; we were cautioned not to take photos, but a few days later a photo and article about the 52s appeared in the Stars and Stripes.
One thing for sure, CNN screwed up once agan.

the Enola Gay B-29, which dropped the A-bomb over Hiroshima, has been restored and is to go on display late this year, when the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, an annex of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, opens near the Dulles International Airport outside Washington, D.C.Wonder how many Japanese tourists will stop by to get their pictures snapped with the Enola Gar as a backdrop.
