Salinas facing brutality claim

A Salinas man beaten unconscious during a traffic arrest in January and cleared of charges in May has filed a claim against that city and its police force that names controversial former officer Robert Reichert and Salinas Chief Daniel Ortega as among those ``causing the damages.''

What a guy! He gets angry because a citizen refuses consent to a search and beats the living sh@t out of him. But not to worry. The city will pick up the tab from this hot head's temper and he will just move on to another police department.

But we would like to know just how this Reichert character can rock'n roll without his badge, gun and night stick.

WAY too many "hotheads" among police forces all around the country. Policing is a difficult job without the police forces having to work out of the messes (sometimes disasters) that these renegades pose. They should pay more to attract a better class of applicant, be more careful in hiring them, be rid of the bad apples immediately after ANY evidence of this trait, and ensure that their own policies don't allow for collusion among their members in covering up incidents, or attempting to "get away" with these deplorable policing behaviors...
