If he supports Arnold then why the Hill is he entering the race? Or is he not entering the race? IMO all of the publicity hounds why declared their intent withou intending to run are a$$holes who are providing ammunition for the anti-recall folks who want to stigmatize the recall and take the focus away from dufus. This recall IS serious business and it should be treated as such. Piss on the disturbed publicity gamers like Coleman, Hussington, Flint. Who cares who they support. They are losers and/or jerks.
To: Sabertooth
That's why they came up with the bright idea of annointing another anti-gun, pro-homosexual, pro-Illegal, pro-abortion liberal, Dick Riordan. The only problem with that, is that is not why Riordan lost in the primary. :)

Agreed Arnold is not an ordinary guy, but please let's not confuse the man with his hollywood roles.
To: BlackElk
You could run the performance artist formerly known as Prince. He's about as well known as Aaaaaaahnold, doesn't just talk a good game on homosexuality but used to be a teen-aged male prostitute...Where'd you get that silly, unsubstantiated idea?

Hugh Hewitt is exactly right, which makes me and some other FReepers exactly right also!
In today's Kalifornia, Arnold is the only Republican who "can" win a statewide election.
On a crowded ballot, "Schwarzenegger" will be easy to find, which is another plus, considering the demographics of CA's voting populace.

We should huddle a day or two before the election, and maybe do a "joint" post, which will either be in stereo or monotone, but hopefully be of some interest.

Well, I don't know of any freeper who is as rich and successful as Arnold, do you? That tells me he does a pretty good job when it comes to money.

(Vote Arnold, best chance the GOP has in California)
To: BlackElk
He has a post-defeat film planned to be produced by Warren Beatty.Yeah, Terminator 4 - Rise of the RINOs. Liquid Metal terminators look like Republican legislators but suddenly all morph into Teddy Kennedy when it comes time to vote on the issues. A scary movie that unfortunately is too similar to real life.

Bill Jones lost because of Bush and Rove's political payback for Jones' endorsement of McCain in 2000. That's why they came up with the bright idea of annointing another anti-gun, pro-homosexual, pro-Illegal, pro-abortion liberal, Dick Riordan. Yep. The sad thing is, if Bill had received (National/State) party backing, he might have won the primary and even defeated the even then unpopular Dufus. The unexpected conservative recoil to the Rove-Bush plan resulted in the inept campaigner Simon, who the national party also refused to support. The CA Republican Party -- the geniuses who previously gave us Fong and Dan Lungren -- were all the while flat-lined (or on life support somewhere).

There's a whole lotta sense making going on here.

Riordan was certainly softened up by the Davis spending binge, but he was on his way to repelling a lot of votes all on his own.

Some of us were repelled because he seemed senile, and seemed in love with the idea of spending government money on failed and discredited programs. I think that is what did him in myself. If I had Riordan's money and resume, I would have beaten Simon's socks off. That is my judgment call anyway. Odd though it may be, I think my outlook is close to the center of gravity in California.

Side note: There are a few on this forum richer and quite a few more powerful than Ah-nuld.

Yes, Dickie Pooh addressed extreme liberal groups, insulted elder party statesmen and ignored conservatives. Some winning formula. If Arnold follows the same strategy I don't see him becoming governor. People will choose a real liberal over a pretend one every time. Sooner or later he'll have to tell us all who he is. With that dodging and weaving he's doing he can only continue to be all things to all people for so long. Worst case scenario is Arnold stumbles and crashes on the way to the coronation like Ross Perot, electing another Democrat to office. The plebs can be fickle.

You can't be a fiscal conservative and fund social programs. If you cut taxes, there is less money to pay for social engineering.

The funny thing is conservatives would have treated Dickie Pooh with loyalty and hard work if he had only smiled and shown them some old fashioned human courtesy. I guess you can let sugar plums dance in your head and arrogance catch up with you and you think you don't have to treat other people like you wanted to be treated. 'Cause you're a big shot and people will like just automatically follow you around, no questions asked. Rear End lost on grounds of ideology of course but he deserved to lose big time cause he thought conducting himself according to simple etiquette was beneath him.

I would say there a few programs we should fund and fund well. That's entirely different from the government offering us a buffet course of programs from A to Z.

Some social issues don't involve spending money. In fact, some involve spending less money, such as not having half the population of our prisons filled with druggies. There are several layers to the onion here.
