[history]
Pentagon officials met over a three-day period in late 2001 with a long-discredited Iranian who was a middleman in the Iran-Contra scandal, Defense Department officials said Friday.
Manucher Ghorbanifar sat in on a series of meetings in Europe between two defense officials and two other Iranians who the Bush administration had been told had information useful to the United States in its then-fledgling global war on terrorism, a senior defense official said on condition of anonymity. The meetings occurred not long after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, he said.

Sorry- have you met a real threat? Bush has- it is called North Korea and we treat them with respect and even give them grain to help feed the people they oppress in horrible ways. Iraq was never a threat. Does a single Freeper think that?

I won't get into the situation with DPRK too much right now, just suffice it to say that THEY'VE GOT NUKES (or at least they very well might) and that changes everything with respect to how we approach them.

I was out of the country when this story broke ...It has taken a while to catch up, so thanks for such important tidbits as the one you posted.
The latest is that even if we find evidence of "weapons programs" we still did not find "weapons"(yet)...I think what has happened is that with so much lying during the 8 years of Clinton some people can no longer discern the truth

OK I'll take the bait..... What would you suggest we do with North Korea?
Should the President order a massive invasion?
Should he unlock the "football" and enter the launch codes?
Should he order our 38,000 troops on the DMZ to attack?
Or should he start off like we did with Iraq 12 years ago and try to apply diplomatic pressure through the U.N.?
Please enlighten us with the infinate wisdom you have acquired from those left wing websites you frequent.

My suggestion with Korea? I would say pull all troops out or the South and let SK defend SK? Our troops are just tokens anyway. If we were to pull out I bet China would back South Korea over the North. Just a guess.

Since, as long as I've known you, you;ve been correct about ONE thing and ONE thing only, you'd best rethink your positions. LOL

We have been in Iraq for 125 days or so and it took us until last week to find 30 Mig Fighters buried in the sand, yet somehow these pathetic anti-american, anti-war, brain-dead leftist want to claim there is no WMD's because we havn't uncovered them in a country the size of California after Saddam had 12 years to hide them.
It's almost scary how many people in this country will tow the liberal line and actually believe the nonsense they feed them. I guess it explains how people can let their fear of fighting allow them to be hearded on to boxcars to a certain death

Right. And for the life of me, I couldn't figure out why the CIA went all the way to Niger for a Hostess cupcake. :-)

So when all the dire predictions about the war didnt pan out the left has been forced to seize on this stuff and tie themselves in knots to avoid the obvious.

Well, Betty Jo is convinced the Bush lied about 9-11, but she's a conspiracy theorist, so there you have it.
That's one.
But your point is taken. Burkeman can't back up his assertions with facts, and given the fact that the actual facts indicated that Saddam had weapons and hid them, he may have some explaining to do over the next several months.
Bush lied my ass. It is very easy to find out who is serious about the war against Islamic Fascism and Arab National Socialism, and who isn't.
Be Seeing You,
Chris

"If we were to pull out I bet China would back South Korea over the North. Just a guess."OK, Now that you given your answer to solving the N. Korea threat (PULL OUT & RUN)
Should we have ignored Saddam as well?
Should we have kept patroling the "NO FLY ZONES" for a few more decades"
Should we have let the U.N. vote on another threatening 15 or 20 Resolutions?
Should we have kept ignoring the fact that Saddam was rewarding the families of suicide bombers with $25,000.00?
Should we have shrugged off the lack of accounting for the "DOCUMENTED" WMD's Saddam had in his possession in 1998?
Or should we have all gathered in one big circle and chanted KUMBYA?
You see Burkeman1, your argument is not based on the facts on the ground, they're based on your feelings..... just like every liberal I have ever known

You
know or should, since you " respect " me so much, that I am NOT an isolantionst, nor anti-war. Neither do I swallow, as whole cloth, as you do, all of the stupid Bushbashing tripe, that somehow passes for " facts ".
You're blinkered and completely blind, on this topic. I've explained it to you many times over. Why don't you " get it " ? :^)
To: Burkeman1
" Private war " ? If that's what you imagine our engagement to be, then forget it. I wash my hands of the whole thing.

"It is also the human condition that we have a hard time admitting we are wrong. So when all the dire predictions about the war didnt pan out the left has been forced to seize on this stuff and tie themselves in knots to avoid the obvious."BINGO, The left almost seems to be sorry to hear about any of the many success's we have had in this war. My goodness.... I thought they were going to hold a candle light vigil for Uday and Qusay.
My gut tells me is that their real problem is that their not in power and since the past 3 years have been a nightmare for them, they have become very desperate. I believe what we are seeing today is a direct result of their paranoia of becoming irrelevant.
To see them implode in the past few years, has been a beautiful thing to witness :-)
