And the pet food company IAMS has added a nutrient to its weight-control dry food that quickens metabolism and helps the furry family members maintain muscle mass.I switched my biggest girl (a 16 lb. two year old) over to this IAM's weight management food. It was hard, because this is apparently not as tasty as Science Diet, which she loves.
But, after four months, Juliette's down to 12 pounds, and is much less lethargic.
So, either this stuff works, or the taste is so awful that she just eats less of it.

Just saw a National Geophraphic TV docu on the cheetahs, lions, lynxs, and other wild cats sprinting at 100mph to capture their preys
What a contrast to our domesticated felines
Seems like too much of a good thing is BAD....too much of a good life, too much of CIVILIZATION.......

My vet put "the girls" on Eukanuba Restricted Calories four years ago and they only dropped 3lbs. Now the vet has me mixing puffed rice with 3/4 cup of the ERC. All they do is flick the rice all over the floor, scarf up the ERC and then give me "that look".
To make matters worse the vet thinks I'm lying when I insist that their not getting any scraps or goodies. Life is not easy for kitty owners.

What is bad is when you have one fat kitty and one who isn't...
You have to feed them in separate rooms, or the bigger one will eat all the other's food first.

. Carey suggests cat owners take their pets on leash walks.. Typical Cornell study. I tried to get Fatso into a harness and leash. Try juggling chainsaws, it's less messy on the rug.

Funniest thing I ever saw was a cat on a leash for the first time. All I could think of is it was good the handler was wearing long pants.

What is bad is when you have one fat kitty and one who isn't... Yep. I have that problem. One of my cats is a very slender Siamese who I doubt could put on weight if he tried - he's an indoor-only cat, but wayyyy active. One of my others is a Himalayan cross that has been fat from day one and who cries every time I walk near where the food is stored. This is as close as she gets to exercising...
(And that's actually from when she was younger and slightly less chubby than she is now...

Carey suggests cat owners take their pets on leash walks.. Yeah, I dragged our fatty a half a block before giving up.
We do have one outdoor female, however, who walks with our dogs, on her own, every morning and every night.
She's four and weighs six pounds.
