Good point. But that power was granted to the federal government to fund the federal government. It was not granted to ensure that one segment of the population could enjoy a particular standard of living or to transfer wealth from one segment to another.

Sounds like you're one of those who think America has a living standard that is too high. Like the WTO and the UN, who want to see American wages reduced and are actively promoting policies that do that?
