Another great one from Lileks.
Incidentally, this is exerpted from the bottom of a longer column (The Daily Bleat). If you follow the source link, scroll down to find it.

Hitler's dog went to his funeral
Blondi was dead by the time Adolph and Eva took the chicken way out in the Fuhrerbunker, having tested the cyanide capsules that were used as a backup to the pistol shot.
I can recall coming across a translation of the autopsies of Hitler, Eva Braun, and the Goebbels family published in Russian and reprinted in a book that found its way to the shelf of my public library.

The best refutation yet. Lileks is the best!

"God has once again brought an Easter out of Good Friday." said Rev. Gene Robinson after his election as the first openly gay bishop.I told my husband about this quote yesterday and he rolled his eyes and mumbled something about the "sin of pride".
This Lileks blog also has an amusing take on Arnold.

This is true and very funny. Great line: "Hitler's dog went to his funeral."

Off topic, but an interesting read is "Eva's Cousin". Novel based on the author's interviews with the cousin.

"God has once again brought an Easter out of Good Friday." said Rev. Gene Robinson after his election as the first openly gay bishop. I expected a lightning bolt. I wonder if everyone standing around him ducked and looked skyward when he said that.

Yeah, and if I was still standing afterwards I'd shout, "REPEAT! FIRE FOR EFFECT!" As dear Winnie said, "You can always take one with you . . . "

No prob!
Seriously, when I heard Robinson's statement, I realized that even my most ego-driven rants (and I've had some doozies) sounded pretty humble and modest by comparison.

Famous moment from the Lejeune artillery impact area:
Forward observer: "Left 200, FIRE FOR EFFECT!"
(Shells pass overhead, hit)
Now-enraged FO: "YOUR OTHER LEFT, YOU KNUCKLEHEAD!"

I saw some clips of Robinson and his congregation a few days ago and couldn't help but notice a certain strangeness in many of them. I can't pin down exactly what I thought was odd, but for lack of a better expression, I'll call them pod people. Some normal human emotion is missing.

Outstanding read, making many good points.
I'm absolutely certain the wisdom contained herein will still elude some.
...unfortunately.

OMG! I wonder if that was my husband? He's a leftie, and he does that all the time. "YOUR OTHER LEFT!" is SOP in our family.
'course he was at the Bragg School for Wayward Boys, and then at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, so I know 'twarn't him. But it COULD have been!
"Tell them leaflet people the Krauts ain't got time fer readin' today!"

Well, the FO was a guy from ANGLICO (Air/Naval Gunfire Liaison Company), a USN/USMC unit, so it probably wasn't him.

This summed up my views nicely. No matter how you spin it, he left his wife and children to take up with someone else. He is an adulterer, a fornicator, and a sodomite. He is not qualified to be a priest, let alone a bishop. In the Catholic church he would be qualified to be excommunicated. In a sane Episcopal church, he'd be allowed to stay, but never hold office.
If there's a case where it might be good for God to push the Smite button, this is it.
