Let's see, on the ballot there will be:

1) A question on if the Governor should be recalled,

and 2) A question on who should be the new Governor if a recall is approved.

Now, anyone with a few grand and some signatures can run, except Governor Davis.

I wonder if the law would allow ex-Governor Davis to get on the ballot?

I know the law says the recall goes ahead if Davis resigns, with the Lt. Governor taking over merely until the election.

But what if Davis thinks his best shot is to try to find 35% who want him to be Governor rather than 50% who want to not have him be recalled.

Would California law allow him to resign and run, hoping to be the candidate who gets the plurality?
