Proof of this is the fact that during the 2000 campaign, no one in the media mentioned the fact that Gore's father as a US Senator had voted against the landmark 1960's civil rights laws. If that had been true of Bush's father, it would have been routinely cited as proof that he couldn't be trusted on civil rights, that he was tainted, that he came from an insensitive and even racist background. .
