one cannot help but feel that the very rich men behind the private push to send people into space are not all in it for the benefit of humankind.

That one line explains it all. The writer is a socialist that hates productive people that have made money. The Wright brothers were not working to benefit mankind. They had lots of money to play with their pet project. But it helped mankind anyway. Sheesh, socialists just don't get it.

I need to start thinking about how I can make and serve 4 or 5-star meals in zero-gee. When all those rich bastards get to space, they're going to be willing to pay well to have a good chef, with an understanding of zero-gee cooking and thermo-dynamics in micro-gee.

Plus he does not realized that rich people created stuff to make more money, not to benefit all of mankind, but to benefit the rich person.
