Air Canada is a publically-owned company but the Canadian government severely restricts how much stock any one entity can own and further limits the percentage of stock which may be foreign-owned.

The Mexicana flight from Mexico City to Ixtapa was 30 minutes late taking off and after we were in the air, the pilot came on with an apology. As a special treat to make up for our delay, he flew the 727 almost right into the smoking hole of a big volcano just outside the city. We could smell the sulfur for the rest of the flight !
