I am concerned with the general tone of the comments in this and other articles that seem to me to be disparaging remarks addressed to the race and not the issue at hand. I refer to the remarks alluding to welfare, drugs and crime in general as being a black trait.
Possibly, I infer racisim where it doesn't exist. Possibly I am being too sensitive but I ask myself, if I were black, how would I feel reading this. I think I would be embarrassed and offended.
At the very least these type comments can't be helpful to the conservative cause in trying to be inclusive and appeal to all races to embrace social and economic conservatism.
I am a product of the south of the 50s and am trying to overcome my own racist demons. My best bet may be to just shut up and work on myself, which is never easy. I respect your view point and appreciate your civil tone. Ellis

It would be fair to say that we mock a poisonously putrescent subculture which is inarguably gangrenously endemic among American blacks. Welfare, drugs, and crime are all closely related with (but certainly NOT exclusive to) that subculture.

If more white women would just name their children Shaniqua, it wouldn't be an issue...

A popular hispanic name is "Concepcion", "Connie" for short (and use in American polite society).
We've already used up "Connie" on a major hurricane.
An Afro-American (not African-American) equivalent might well be ........................

... your black weather report is one of the funniest damn things I have read on FR. I haven't laughed this hard in a long time. Thanks for the flowers. I was worried that it would be interpreted as derogatory, but it is offered with love and humor intended. To this day one of the funniest things I can remember relating to black/white humor is seeing Richard Pryor pretending to be a white guy, walking around quickly, with back stiff and butt clenched and a whiney voice. I laugh just thinking about it.
