Exactly why the .45 ACP Model 1911 was developed almost a century ago. The .38 was not as effective.

You beat me to it on the 1911A1.

After the Active Military was forced to switch over to the 9mm there has been an ever increasing cry to go back to it for the very reason that it was invented in the first place.

There's always some bleeding heart desk jockey deciding what's best for the troops (and that includes our brothers wearing a badge) based on PCism instead of listening to the troops and giving them what they know and say they need by actually being in hostile territory.
