I'm not sure about Gitmo, sara - Chief W. is at an Iraq prison camp. After 33 years in the 'guard' business - he knows how other countries treat OUR POWS, and he knows very well how WELL other POWS are treated by US - even AT GITMO, and at risk to their own safety. Yes, in Iraq POWs are allowed family visitations. Arranging family visits, and handling mail is the job of the Red Cross.

The Red Cross has some explaining to do for their broken promises to the POWs - and to the Iraqi people and our troops. Our troops are often doing work they should not be required to do because they can not count on the NGOs - and they are trying to win the hearts and minds of the Iraqi people. The NGOs, on the other hand - are sowing dissent and criticizing our troops daily in very public PR statements picked up by a willing anti-American press. Hardly 'caring' humanitarians - those accusers on the left.
