Just recently they broke that the 28 pages of the 9-11 report were leaked, then a day or so later, the rest of the media picked it up. When the Debka article was posted, the same Debka-haters jumped on it, then other media picked it up, and of course the Debka haters are too busy hating Debka, to recognize that they were right and way ahead of the crowd.Umm
no, not they almost certainly are off-base on the redacted 28 pages.
Debka's take on this section just doesn't pass the smell test.
Debka says that the 28 pages were redacted because Senator Graham a Democrat was able to bogart a version of events which is detrimental to Bush's re-election prospects.
I find this thinking to be preposterous and so much blathering by a bunch who has no understanding of how Congress works.
If I had to guess, I'd say that they probably based their report on information from some Democrat staffer who hosed them in order to put another anti-Bush story out on the Internet.

"Debka's take on this section just doesn't pass the smell test. "
---
And the dozens of articles published subsequently saying the same thing do?
To: quidnunc
Debka knows exactly how Congress works: that they can't keep a secret longer than a microsecond, they just have to leak everything.

I tend to believe what Debka has reported and I hope it all pans out. One question remains. Will the dem/libs accept documentary evidence.. and testimony from the Iraqi scientists...or will we have to supply them with barrels of the stuff?(tangible evidence) Will they still be screaming that it isn't enough? "Too little too late?" My final question is...Will they or can they accuse the administration of "planting" the stuff. These dem/libs are very ingenious when it come down to protecting their hide and bashing Bush. They're not going to let go that easily.

Maybe, butr there are other parts of the article that are unlikely to be SWAG, for eampl, The discovery of documents that show that WMDs were transferred to Syria, The Discovery of Possible "Human Guinea Pigs", and the culprits behind the Forged Italian Intel documents. These assertions are either based on what Kay is actually finding or they are (Extremely Romantic) distortions invented by Debka, but certainloy not SWAG - because the information is too specific, it's either a lie or true, but not SWAG.Like I said, to my mind it's 50-50 whether any particular detail is true or is made up in order to craft a compelling story which will create a buzz and maybe attract paying subscribers to their newsletter.
By the time all the facts are known people will only remember that Debka predicted that significant WMD programs would be found a safe bet at this point and any of the fine details which were spurious will be forgotten.

Debka as a source?
If it's lasted this long, they must be saying just what someone thinks needs to be to heard.
To: quidnunc
We'll see, but I tend to think much of this article is correct just because Klintoon went on Larry King and told the Dems to "Move On'.
He wouldn't say that unless he knows Dubya has got the Goods on Saddam's WMD Program...

I seem to remember some reports of 7.5 miles as in SEVEN and a HALF miles of paper if piled up that related to the sadam WMD programs and were being scanned, translated, cross referenced as we speak.
Even if this is a X10 exageration it's still a ton of raw data to be sifted.

I believe Debka like I believe Joe Isuzu.
However, the one thing I find interesting is that Joe Wilson has been downplaying things of late, and backing off his assaults on the administration. So something is up.

Yesterday on hardball, Joe Wilson definately downplayed the whole thing, he almost seemed to be a Bush supporter.
Something is definately up

"Debka is a disinformation source which most Americans eat up."I think this is more correct:
--Debka is a source which most Americans have never heard of.

After researching the White House website on Iraq and finding tons of information our media elites have ignored, I would tend to believe Debka more than the NY Times and others.
Believe Kay has found the WMD motherlode so to speak in Iraq and we are a short time away from its announcement. Sen Roberts (R-KS) is not one to go public about Iraq and the items about to be announced unless there is substantial evidence. I have heard him several times allude to information that will be coming out! Unlike the DemocRATs he does not go into details although the details from the RATs usually turn out to be lies!

Well Clinton would certainly have been privy to intelligence on the WMD program during his term...

His head nuke dude went to Niger in 99 - either to get some uranium, cowpeas, or cattle (Niger's main exports).LOL... that's funny. Let's see, I'm sure Iraq sent their head NUKE dude to purchase Grade A Beef, right? LOL

SEVEN and a HALF miles of paper if piled up Did they specifically say "if piled up"? Or are you assuming that is what they meant? MOST of the time, when they use 'distance comparison' like this, they are talking about laying things END TO END, not stacked up. HUGE difference. But I didn't hear the original quote, so I don't know if they did in fact say "if piled up."
To: jackbill
I totally agree. From what I am hearing, David Kay wants all his ducks in line, they will not release info a little at a time, they have decided that it would be best to release all the info at the same time. In the meantime as evidence builds up, the RATS will continue to criticize the Administration more and more. Little do they know, they are digging the hole deeper and deeper as the elections grow closer. The info will be released and they will look like the idiots and ingorants that they have always been.
The Bush Admin. is not dumb they know the dems are salivating to get to them.

This is interesting. I am particularly fascinated about the part with Berlusconi and the agents in Italian intelligence who also worked with the anti-war movement.
This would not surprise me. MJY1288 and William McKinley both have been tracking these spurious characters from the CIA and the State Department who also show up on anti-war sites. If they were coordinated with overseas agents, it would explain how Bush and Blair were hit with similar types of accusations at the same time.
Also, if I remember correctly, the fake document was given to an Italian reporter who turned them over to our State Department. The reporter worked for one of Berlusconi's papers, if I recall correctly. It migiht have been easier for him to get information about her sources than a normal prime minister, since he is also her boss.
To: mrtysmm
Will they or can they accuse the administration of "planting" the stuff. Of course they will/can.
But I bet the bigger whine will be that "Iraq never used the chem/bio weapons on our troops."
Apparently they would have preferred that Iraq killed, injured, made ill, or otherwise took out of service, a couple hundred thousand of our troops.
Those are the only options, either:
(A) a pre-emptive strike that prevents Iraq from using their WMD on our troops (or on US soil), or
(B) waiting until after he uses the WMD and kills/maims tens/hundreds of thousands of Americans.
Since they are griping about A, they obviously would have preferred B, which is disgusting.
