While conducting a routine patrol, a unit of the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment discovered large caliber ammunition, consisting of several primers and 130 mm rounds, at a house in the area. Seven individuals were detained for questioning. Third ACR engineers destroyed the ammunition.

They should institute a policy of "destroy in place". For safety reasons if nothing else.

Some caches are big enough to blow a hole the size of a football field in the middle of a neighborhood. Saddam, the seriously rotten man he is, made sure that booby traps were set across the nation. One stray missile - or an enemy RPG fired into a school/hospital packed with ammo - hundreds (or more) could have been killed.

Every week of this war has been miraculously free of mass casualties - because of the skill and courage of our troops and their commanding officers, help from grateful Iraqi people - and...something beyond us, imho. How else to explain the weekly progress of our troops in spite of all the worldly forces with the loudest voices working against them?
