They could have made the headline read "Unemployment Plunges!" but they were concerned about workers who left the labor force. Of course if that was true, why did make such a fuss about the 6.4 number last month when workers were entering the labor force?

Once a person has exhausted their unemployment benefits they are subject to being dropped from the number of unemployed. The decline in employment over the last eight months has been very significant with more jobs lost than new people entering teh labor force. Further the seasonal adjustment handles the new people entering the labor force from schools so last month the number was significantly understated.

Money is always a bride surrounded by a dense veil of lies. With fiat money, the veil hides the Sea Hag. With gold-standard coin, the veil makes an overwhelmingly beautiful maiden, making her modest.

In the first case the bridegroom is dejected and near-suicide on the wedding night. In the second, the bridegroom is happy, and unscathed by the evil eye, that jealously that would have flamed against him, should the beauty of his bride have been known, had been seen by the crowd.

The "lies" that surround money, that surround trade, may be bad or good. The type of money strongly biases that aspect of money: fiat money attracts more bad lies.

What's a good "lie" -- we call it marketing and advertising, salesmanship. Making the case that you should buy this particular thing, make this particular trade. And the fanciful reasons as to why you need to do so NOW. Not solid falsehoods, but certainly exagerations and slight deceptions for good purpose.

Not true. Umemployment benefits have NOTHING to do with the unemployment rate. People can be unemployed, counted as unemployed and not qualify for or not accept unemployment compensation.
