So if celibacy is abnormal then explain why married parents sexually abuse their children?

Straw man.

Question: If celibacy was the normal human condition, how would biological human life continue on this planet? Answer: Adult sexuality is the normal human condition. It is celibacy which is deviant.

It is celibacy which is deviant.

Celibacy is not deviant. It is a legitimate lifestyle. Christ Himself lived it, as did His Mother, and other great saints.

That said, there are few called to the life, as Christ Himself said. Many men try to shoehorn themselves into celibacy so that they can be priests, and end up conflicted and neurotic.

Though the Catholic Church continues to insist on a celibate clergy, it is actually moving away from it, with a married diaconate that includes 15,000 men in the US, and the Anglican dispensation, with over 200 married Protestant converts ordained as priests.

Celibacy is deviant, eh? Novel theory. It's quite clear that celibacy has not stopped population growth from the year 30AD to date, if you haven't noticed.

But to describe 'giving up a good' as a detriment, a fault?

Wow.

Celibacy is also not a Biblical requirement. Way back when the Catholic church allowed priests to marry. Same sex groupings, nuns and priests is just begging for trouble. It's not normal to go through life celibate. Or maybe I should say the VAST MAJORITY can not lead a normal life in this state and wind up with nearly non stop lust.
