I think that this will ultimately result in a "one-term" GWB presidency.

It may not, but perhaps it should.

Just maybe, if we had a DemocRAT president, the Republican House and Senate would start to apply some constraints. They sure as hell aren't as long as they have a president who is "triangulating" and pandering to Teddy Kennedy, et al.

Government agencies that Republicans were calling to be abolished less than 10 years ago, such as education and labor, have enjoyed jaw-dropping spending increases under Bush of 70 percent and 65 percent respectively.

I think that this will ultimately result in a "one-term" GWB presidency.

It sure will if there are any more revelations like this one.

And you can take that to the bank!

I agree,GWB is history.

I was roundly criticised the first time I posted this on F.R. but the tide seems to be turning.

The President has lost all perspective as far as the domestic problems go,he's trying too hard to be a world leader(and failing),instead of our leader.

Eighteen posts of bitchin', following an entire article of bitchin'.

Not one solution (other than electing a Democrat for president), and not one viable candidate thus far to be seen.

I think this article amounts to piling on. If Republicans want to jump ship, we got Dr. Dean to look forward to. Great! I need a travel agent.

Fears about the deficit are well-placed, but unnecessary, in my opinion.

The 9/11 attacks, the War On Terror, and the recession Bush inherited are the primary factors in creating the deficit; not Bush's proposed increased spending outside of these problems.

What would these supposed "hawks" have the government do: not spend money--even if that means spending more than it is taking in--on responding to 9/11, the Global Threat of Terrorism and the dip in business activity? That would be literal and political suicide. In short, it would be stupid.

This President is doing a fine job, despite the handwringing at CATO and among others here.

Not to worry. The Libertarians only got 380,000 votes in '00.

How convenient that most seem to ignore that CONGRESS is the one who passes the budget.

"The spending bill, which covers all discretionary spending except defence, will come to $397.4bn (£246.7bn), $13bn more than the Bush administration wanted.

The long and difficult budget process gave plenty of scope for individual Congressmen to add wasteful - or "pork-barrel" - projects that would help their own districts, threatening to hold up the passage of the entire bill. "

(that came up first when I did a Google search)

Rewarding the GOP with another four years of Bush is no different than rewarding North Korea with economic aide.

It simply encorages bad behavior.

You guys are right there is currently no alternative candidate that could win.

The best thing that WILL happen to the CONSERVATIVE movement is going to be when Bush loses in '04.

GOP will then have to recognize its conservative members or contiune right on losing.

Bush is such a moron-- instead of giving the DOE their walking papers, he hikes their budget intake by 70 percent. That's just plain stupid.

George W. Bush is probably trying to buy votes from voting blocks that Republicans are rapidly losing...

Voters by race and sex:
I. Whites:
A.White men: = 50 percent will vote Democratic?
B. White women:
1. Single women(college?) = 99 percent will vote Democrat?
2. Single never married women w/children = 80 -90 percent will vote Democrat?
(need "Big Government to be their husband?) I say a high percent.
3. Divorced women w/children (single parent) = 80 -90 percent will vote Democrat?
(also need "Big Government to be their husband?)
4. White married women w/children: = 50 percent will vote Democrat?

II. Blacks:
A. Black men: = 99 percent will vote Democrat
B. Black women: = 99 percent will vote Democrat

III. Hispanics:
A. Hispanic men: = 99 percent will vote Democrat
B. Hispanic women: = 99 will vote Democrat

IV. Asians:
A. Asian men = 80 - 90 percent will vote Democrat? Anybody's guess?
B. Asian women = 80 -90 percent will vote Democrat? Anybody's guess?

V. Elderly members of AARP on Social Security & Medicare of all colors = 80 percent will vote Democrat?

Do you think that if 20 million conservatives send Bush "veto pens", he might get the message?
