How is someone who makes $30 an hour a "blue collar" worker? Probably because his doesn't wear a $1000 suit, call himself an attorney and charge $500 an hour... ;)

I always believed that blue collar was symbolic of the type of work that you do, more manual labor, time on your feet, etc.
White collar seems to imply sitting at a desk.
