Could have used him as the new arch-bishop of Boston...

A Priest who dived into a stormy sea died after helping to save seven drowning children.

G-d's sense of irony?:
a good priest saves children from drowning at sea perishes doing his nobel deed...
while our Supreme Court makes sure a fair number of corrupt, immoral priests
are spared the proverbial millstone about the neck-and-into the sea
they deserve.

Father Stefano Garzegno, 44, suffered a fatal heart attack minutes after helping drag the last child ashore at Termoli on Italy's Adriatic coast.

Oh my gosh!! For 15 years, I spent my summers on the beach at Termoli! Only I don't ever recall there ever being rough waters ... just the 'small brown flotsam' from the sewers.

Prayers for this very brave priest!

G-d's sense of irony?:

You write as though his death were a punishment, instead of a reward. He finished his work, did what the Lord wanted him to do, and he was rewarded with a glorious--and immediate, I'm sure--transfer to Heaven. How wonderful! For his sake I'm glad he's dead (in the flesh only, of course).

There is no greater love than to give your life for another. That's what Jesus did for us.

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

I'm guessing the Lord wanted to thank him personally as soon as possible.

My goodness - this is something. Do you know whether there is anything the UK might give him posthumously?

Italy actually. I do have a friend in the Italian military. I'll send him an e-mail. I'm also going to pass this along to the local CG fraternal organizations.

G-d's sense of irony?:

Who? Do you mean Gad or Gid, or Ged? You must mean or Gud. Yeah, it's Gud's sense of irony. But, it's not God's.
