The name Marxism is not old, but the concept has always existed. Living your life for the collective good of society (as determined by so-called patriots) is nothing new.

actually Karl Marx was in favor of Free Trade because it would help advance communism. I am not a collectivist and I am deply offended taht anyone would consider the support of tariffs as being collectivist. The historical refernce was to show you the history of tariffs and perchance how they have helped this nation.

Anyone who proposes Alexander Haqmilton was a Collectivist is an idiot or a liar it is taht simple.

I am not defending the status quo. I do not agree with our mixed economy. I do not agree with tax-dollars subsidizing any part of the market or any foreign government.

Yet you criticize tariffs being used as bargaining chips to end these subsidies and of course to raise revnue. Unfortunately you either support what is out there or support change that moves in the general direction of free markets. The imposition of tariffs for subsidized goods is an attempt to get closer to the real free market conditions. This is the real world one does not live in it by being some wild eyed theoretician and merely spouting forth with that. How do you propose teh 50% Chinese tariff on imported furniture be dealt with? How do you propose the Indian currency controls and subsidies to their IT industry be dealt with by the US government? you say you oppose those things so come up with a practical implementable plan to equalize the market distorting actions.

I simply disagree with you, or anyone else telling others how to run their business.

I am not advocating the government tell business how they must run their businesses. I am agruing for government policies that provide a free market within the USA that includes making foreign goods free form government subsidy and other artificial inducements.

If you do not agree with the hiring policies of the tech industry, do not purchase their products.

Now if your comment is regarding the use of H1-B and L1 visa employees then I will refer you to the laws authorizing these people being in this nation and the laws mandating certain statement sworn to by the employer. I believe perjury when committed should be prosecuted. I do not belive that the government should be in the business of supplying competition to workers in the IT industry or any other industry for that matter. It is you who by defending the H1-B hires are advocating government intervention in the free market. Or do you believe the free market only applies to employers not employeees?

If you think that someone is unfairly unemployed, give them your job.

I would much rather encourage capital investment in the USA by providing an envirornment where such investment generates a rate of return that makes it a better deal than overseas investment. I would prefer that the natural advantage of the political stability in the USA not be taken away by the US government providing Political Risk Insurance to encourage overseas investment. I would prefer to not have to deal with an artificially low Yuan. I recognize that there are many real world issues and that doctrinaire spoutings do nothing to help this nation. i also recognize that I am part of this nation and that economic warfare has been declared on the USA by China and in a sense India.

If you think you can make a quality product by hiring only Americans, then do so. I would never coerce you to make decisions in your life. That's not Marxism, that's freedom. That's American.

You actually by arguing for the H1-B and the current tarde envirornment are arguing for coercion.

Finally, a man who knows his beans about what he is talking about. Thanks for the input, but I don't have alot of hope that anyone will grasp your lucid, undeniable facts, because common sense has vanished from the playing field.
