*Sigh* How frikken sad. I used to collect Marvel, but DC stuff rarely, usually Batman titles. Batman punch a cop? Not typical in my memory.

I used to collect mostly DC myself...I got into it when I received some 1960s books from my Uncle when I was but a sprout. :) Mostly LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES and SUPERBOY, but some SUPERMAN and other stuff mixed in. LSH was always my favorite title ('til I got ahold of CHALLENGERS OF THE UNKNOWN).

Batman punch a cop? Not typical in my memory. Well, Frank Miller's Batman probably would, but then again Frank Miller's Batman probably wouldn't be carrying the UN's water, either.

Batman comes out of retirement as an old man, when the Joker escapes yet again. One of my favorite scenes is when the new (female) police commissioner pulls a gun on him and tries to arrest him to prevent him from going after anybody as a vigilante, he smacks her in the face, takes her gun away, goes "Hmm, nice gun", and flies off in his BatCopter.
