Mofaz To Meet Dahlan, Who Has No Plans To Arrest Terrorists

The PA has begun transferring dozens of wanted terrorists to Jericho, with Israel's consent. They will not be imprisoned, but the PA has promised to ensure that they will not perpetrate attacks. Defense Minister Sha'ul Mofaz will meet this evening with Muhammad Dahlan to discuss preparations for Israel's upcoming withdrawal from two cities - apparently Jericho and Kalkilye. Mofaz will insist once again that the PA begin its war against terrorism, as it promised to do several weeks ago but has not yet undertaken.

The Yesha Council called on Mofaz not to transfer security control of the above two cities to the PA, "which turns Israel's demand for the PA to start disarming terrorists into a joke." The Council also stated that allowing the wanted terrorists to find refuge in Jericho "is essentially an Israeli agreement to preserve the terror infrastructures, which will resume perpetrating terror whenever they choose."

Dahlan himself said today that as long as the quiet is maintained, he has no intention of arresting terrorists. He told PA media in Gaza today that the term "terrorist infrastructures" does not exist for the PA, and is merely an Israeli invention.

Israel is also scheduled to release 540 PA prisoners in the coming days - including more than 200 Hamas members and 100 criminals.

"The Security Chief, Dahlan, and I have had some discussions. He's a good, solid leader."

"OK, Abdul, I want these guys rested and fattened up in a week. Then we'll use that Saudi money to get them trained on the new equipment we got from Saddam and the new tactics and have them back in operation on the streets in a month. Notify Osama, Mrs. Clinton, and the US democrats as soon as you can get a clear and secure channel."
