You cannot see the moral, economic and security reasons for reestablishing the Republic of Liberia?

Liberia is no threat to the US.
Saudi Arabia is. The EU is.
Open your mind.

What does any one know of Taylor? How can you call him
a dictator? Until Pat Robertson
is shown off base on his assessment, I'll have to wait.
Normally the elected leader is supported. Why not in
Taylor?

"Reagan thought Liberia important enough to provide hundreds of millions of dollars in military aid to its dictator."
...in order to fight the Cold War by proxy.
Or maybe he was doing this:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/955199/posts?page=5#5 "Leave that analysis to the Bush administration, which has proven over the last two years it knows exactly how to deal with risks to our national security."
I'll analyze it myself, thank you very much.
Libera is no risk to our national security.
From your posts, it seems that if Bush told you to jump off the Empire State Building, you couln't get there fast enough in order to comply.
Who is your dog in this Liberian fight? You are way too rabid not to have one. Either that or your devotion to the chain of command from your army days hasn't worn off yet.

Do you know what is north of Liberia?
Do you know why we liked coming in through Liberia for the Africa offensive during WWII?
Do you know the strategic value of west Africa? Do you know of the latest oil discovered off the coast? Do you know why every powerful African nation wants to control Liberia?

Are you friggin kiding me? In your eyes, if Taylor isn't taken down and the US sends in its men and women of the armed forces it may instigate a rising of a danger to the US on parrell to that of Tojo's Japan or Hitler's Germany? Sheesh what's the color of the sky in your world?? Its a turd world nation with zero relevence to the US, the War on Terror and any other conceivable rationale that we might have to go in.

Of course Libera is no risk to our national security.
That is not the reason to go.

I agree. This guy's dogmatism is getting creepy. Then again its more entertaining than being told something along the lines that "Jesus demands that we go in." Those posters need to reread their Bibles and their Constitutions.

Do you really believe that no nation or group of nations would like to at a minimum come to equals with the power of the US?
You are limiting your vision to what you see as a no account country not taken in consideration the value of that country to either US or someone else.
Liberia is not Germany of the '30s. Liberia may well be of value to the next Germany of the '30s.

If its so "valuable" how come we're the ones that are being ordered to go in? Its a damn cesspool of a country with nothing but war and death. Oh wait I haven't "expanded my mind." Sucks to be drug free huh?

Its called the Cold War. Read a couple books on the subject. Might clear up the inconsistency for you. Once again, Liberia's a turd world nation that should be left to rot. Not one American solider should be sent there. HEY! I've got a great diea! You think its so important to our national security? Why don't you sign up and do it yourself?! Put your money where your mouth is! Oh wait. Only "other people" serve in the US armed forces. I c

I do not take drugs.
Think what you will.
But the Oil alone is enough reason.
Bush wants Taylor to leave and is trying pressure first then a small show of troops. Why take Liberia by force when you can take it diplomatically? The rebels will stand down when Taylor is gone. If we must, Bush will send in a small force with air support. There will be elections and we will be tight again with the Liberian Government.
We then have taken from South Africa and the EU control of the vast Oil off the west coast of Africa. Both weakening the EU and strengthening our hand in the Middle east. It also gives a "Friendly" port for Africa and south Middle East. The access from there is good and we also flex muscle for the likes of Egypt, Sudan and begin a surrounding of Saudi Arabia - all terrorist hot spots.

Is Liberia a direct threat against the United States? No, take this issue to the UN and let them handle it.Yeah right, like the UN handled Rwanda?

I do read books.
Do you think maybe we might want a foothold in Africa and south Middle East?
And who do we want to have control of the Oil?

Ditto. We helped South Africa and Rhodesia. Two countries that worked well under able minority rulers. When the locals took over it all went to hell in a hand basket. The same is true for the whole of dark Africa.
They are the only ones that can straighten it out, and they'll butcher any opposition including us, until it's sorted out.
Not a place I would want to be.
