[history]
A .50-caliber BMG sniper rifle, in the wrong hands, would be terrorism unleashed.
The gun is powerful enough to punch a hole in an oil tank or take down a civilian airplane. Its 5 1/2-inch long bullets can pierce an inch of armor 40 yards away and hit a target a mile away. A massive weapon, with some models weighing in at 28 pounds, it's ill-suited for hunters -- it would take out a deer and the tree behind it -- but ideal for assassins.

The more they proliferate, the more likely one will be put to an awful use. Fits stupid ideas perfectly well.

Since these babies have been around for generations, why have't the bad guys used them for crime?

These clowns don't know the difference between a cartidge and a bullet. The sad fact is that they probably do and are exaggerating for effect, something which Handgun Inc. is know to do as a matter of policy in order to take advantage of public ignorance concerning guns.
"Responsible reporting seeks to keep events in proportion. The mark of irresponsible reporting is that it blows them out of proportion. It achieves drama by exaggeration, and its purpose is not truth but drama." Richard M. Nixon, The Real War, 1980.

I would have thought that the forte of an 88 Magnum is shooting through pianos!

Don't forget the UN-elected masters--like the Supremes, the Commissioner of IRS, etc.,etc.

"The compromising days are over."
I hope so.
But I also wonder what THEY ever compromised? It seems that WE have compromised away plenty, but they have never given in at all in their quest to roll back our rights.

Your definition is closer to reality than you think. Janet Reno and Hillary have referred to abortion protestors as "terrorists."

You aren't going to win a 50 cal match with one, but for those on a budget...

Another favorite movie moment is when the Joker pulls out a folding revolver and shots down the bat plane. The recoil almost knocks him down. The best one i where Dean Martin is captured in the Matt Helm movie and surrenders his pistol to the bad guy. Then Dean smacks the bad guy; who in turn pulls the trigger and the bullet comes out of the receiver, not the muzzle; and due to disbelief the bad guy shoots himself again..

"not on government to justify restricting them."
This idiot obviously know nothing of our government or Constitution. It is ALWAYS the responsibility of the government to justify, as it is an accusers.

With prices falling, some sell for as little as $1,000. Best part of the whole article!! At those prices, seems there should be a shortage of them as they are snapped up 5 or six at a time.
Yup these a$$sholes are clueless. There are shotguns on the market for more than $20,000! Gee, maybe I'll snap up 20 .50 cal rifles.

Four to five jerks on the side of a jammed freeway standing in the bushes with full auto AKs would be far more devestating ripping through the 1/16 inch aluminum car doors.
Or lets say - straight razors in the hands of a few sycopaths runing down a grade school hallway when the resess bell rings.
These fools that want to ban this rifle are scared for there own skin and nothing more. End of Discussion
