[history]
Educators bracing for financial disaster were somewhat relieved that the Senate budget plan -- which slashes about $2 billion in school funding -- isn't as damaging as they expected.
The Senate plan passed Sunday preserves voter-approved minimum funding for schools and largely mirrors Gov. Gray Davis' budget blueprint issued in May. But the bill, which the Assembly was expected to consider as early as Monday evening, still cuts deeply into specific programs that provide summer school, reading assistance and textbooks for students.

Too bad! What used to be a credit to the state... now turns out a lot of kids that just can't cut it. Thank to the unions and socialist agendas. At least, it will keep the prisons full, but that isn;t much of a silver lining, imo.

``All of the cuts are painful, and, yes, we are losing a lot of money on our bottom line,'' said Scott Plotkin, executive director of the California School Boards Association, which in concert with other education groups spent $1 million lobbying to preserve education funds. I had no idea public education were considered a profit making enterprise. That certainly explains alot.

It's only profit making for the unions.
(And a profit, is the only thing they make. They certainly don't waste any time educating kids when there are political issues to address and taxpayers to fleece.)

How can this be?
There has been no budget passed.
This is the third time in a few months, that we have had similiar articles saying the schools were saved or spared.

The mediots are so left wing, when the Kali Rat packed senate passes a bill without the 60% majority, they immediately write these articles.

There may be some hope, Grampa. Im gonna apply at Microsift for one of their "5,000 new jobs". Maybe, they'll make me a future millionaire and a Hero for the consumers too. I have always pridied myself on giving good service. I don't dally around and have never been afraid to step on the managemnet or programmers toes.
I just hope all the jobs aren't in India or all bets are off ;-)

Even after this bad experience, I still think that Microsoft has excellent products.
I'm sure that if the people who talked to me over 3 days knew about what caused the problem, their lawyers would have prevented them from mentioning it or discussing how to overcome the problem.
What I need now is a good anti popup program as it is obvious that MS is doing nothing to protect me against the constant popups that look like official MS bulletins. I have received two while trying to get this reply to you.
Good luck on your job hunt.

The irony is that California public schools may not be worth saving.
First they are a cash cow for the biggest union in the state.
Second, they are apparently incapable of producing a plurality of "educated" students.
Last, but not least, they are fast becomming a vechicle for educating Mexico's poor, and their descendents, at the expense of US taxpayers. A California version of foreign aid.
