"The Saving private Ryan complaint example was appropriate in terms of showing brutal violence on tv. It's a very violent war movie that young children should not see."
While I'd agree that young children should not view that film, it's easy enough for parents to not allow them to do so. NBC showed the film in prime time. Parents got to decide whether or not to view the film. I don't see the problem.
For this onemilliondads.com group to protest the showing of a film that expressed some of the most patriotic of sentiments and honored our fighting men seems a little off the mark here. Clearly, this is an excellent case for a little parental control. When would NBC have shown the film, other than in Prime Time? At 2AM? I don't think so.

It just gets sicker and sicker. May God have mercy on the US. We deserve to be blown off the face of the earth.

The earth is flat,
why do you think columbus lost his fourth ship? It fell off the edge.

"You could have MichiganConservativeSatellite up and running in just a year or two, offering just the channels you think are appropriate to that consuming public out there.
What is that other than you insinuating that I want to control what people want? Maybe you ought to go back and re-read your sarcasm-laden post. You seem to have a short memory. If not, you are now trying to recharacterize your post as something that it is not."
You miss my point. You could have such a system up. It would be a miserable failure, however.

But I am really upset about the homosexual agenda which tries to destroy our children. And how does a show that encourages people to do the following promote a "homosexual agenda which tries to destroy our children"?
-pick up their trash
-put their clothes in the hamper
-clean up the kitchen so it can be used
-redecorate their awful looking homes
-dress in clothing other than ratty t-shirts and baggy pants(put on a jacket..ohh the horror!)
-learn how to cook a gourmet meal
-shave and improve basic grooming
-get a haircut
-learn how to hang up a woman's jacket for her and other assorted good manners
I don't know, I guess my mother was promoting the homosexual agenda when she taught me those very same things.

Oh, boy. Now you've jumped off the edge of the cliff. You might want to calm down a little and look around at all the good things around you. Go to church or something and go out and help others.
We do _not_ deserve to be blown off the face of the earth.
Goodness gracious!

Homosexuality is deviant sexual behavior and a mental illness. If your assertion is true then you're among the group that thinks it's gentically based rather than a choice. Is that accurate?

Since we got TIVO, we don't watch commercials anymore. We watch recorded shows, and skip the commercials. It's great!

I don't see what the fuss is. It's a pretty funny show actually and might be better than Trading Spaces. I think it's a scream. And being a single woman, I am frustrated by how some single guys just don't even make an effort; they just slob out and then wonder why we're not attracted to them.
These fairies are doing us straight gals a good service, IMO. :-)

My guess: Within 5-7 years most cable companies will be operating under "cafeteria plans," where each subscribers simply ticks off which channels he wants and which ones he doesn't. Don't like Bravo or CNN? Your cable box will block those channels and you won't pay for them. (And NBC and AOL won't get your money.) Maybe the tiers will go by owner (although some networks would just as soon have it that you didn't know they were connected...). E.G. Viacom block (MTV, VH1, M2, VH1Classics, Nick, TV Land, Spike/TNN...), FOX Block (Fox Sports, Fox News, FX...), NBC Block (MSNBC, Bravo...), Time/Warner Block (CNN, TCM, ...), Time/Warner Premium Block (HBO1, HBO2, HBO Family, HBO..., Cinema, Mo' Max...).
You'd probably still get all broadcast channels ("basic cable") Meaning that Viacom's CBS, Disney's ABC, Fox, and Time-Warner's WB-UPN would all be exempt from "opt out" provisions. I think that current "cable" legislation even requires the signals to be carried if they are broadcast in a community.
This type of implementation makes too much sense (and would permit the viewer to boycott parent companies that he didn't want to support). It would probably break more along programming type (entertainment, sports, sports premium, news, movies channel, movie premium, etc).
I opted out of cable years ago when I realized that I was watching only 6 channels and one of those was a broadcast network (Fox). I can buy several DVDs a month for the price of a cable bill and OWN the programming that I want to see.

We're the ones who will have to go into the closet, for aughing at this most funny show!

I've watched the "Queer Eye" show, and thought it was better than I thought. The straight guy was trying to impress a girl, so I like that aspect of it.

So a man being emasculated by his girlfriend is watchable? Becoming/acting like a homosexual does not get you sex with women. At least we know who has the testicles in those relationships.
These men need new girlfriends.
To: Allegra
I must admit to seeing an article in the paper about it and watching out of curiosity and then guiltily...liking it. :-) It's freakin' hilarious. According to the paranoid intolerant kooks here you are guilty of supporting the homosexual agenda to turn their children into leather chaps wearing Village People.
To: El Conservador
As long as we're vitriolic about gays, that'll give them the attention they want. If we ignore them, that'll shut them up.
Ignoring the KKK won't make them go away. When one confronts evil, one must leave no ambiguities on the issue.
If homosexuality is a "private" behavior that only occurs in bedrooms, why are there parades, company diversity programs, and networks for this crowd?
Seems awfully public for something that is "private". Norming the aberation is a part of the agenda, get people to deal with it on a daily basis.

Neither does being a boorish, messy pig. Women seem to like guys who have decent jobs, keep their apartments or houses clean, shower regularly, and wear clean clothing that fits them.
If that's acting like a homosexual, then I guess a lot of guys learned the wrong things from their moms.

WE , in america are given the abilty to choose. You can choose not to watch. it the liberal left who is trying to tell us how to live our lives and what is best for us and our children. While the homosexual lifestyle is a deviant lifestyle, we do not have to watch Bravo. Bravo hasa right to earn a profit and if grabbing onto gays does it, its the American way.

I don't hate gay people, I love them. I hate the sin.
Gay males molest boys at a far greater rate than:
a) Straight men molest boys (none), or
b) Straight women molest girls (none), or
c) Straight men molest girls (as a percent of the straight male population)
d) Straight females molest young boys (as a percent of the straight female population)
Gay men molest young boys is a far greater percentage of the gay men population than straight men molest girls as a percentage of the straght male population.
Now, if you're gay, you wern't born that way. You can change your ways with therapy.

Maybe you ought to go back and read post 194.
And maybe you ought to lay off the sarcasm and accusations when you write on this board.
How do you know it would be a failure? Are you in the industry?
I never said I wanted to set up a satellite company. So, your original post was completely uncalled for, especially with the personal attacks that it contained.
