Their problem, unfortunately, is that the time it will take them to gain legal status (they would not need citizenship, just legal status to qualify for aid) will place them beyond their traditional higher institution educational years.

They may need to learn one American tradition ----working your way through college. Most American kids are doing just that, they don't all expect a free ride like this bunch does.
