While I can never defend granting privileges such as these to illegal immigrants, there is much merit to the argument that they are better candidates for such aid than a student who will rush back to "my country" after soaking up our education and our education dollars.

How about putting American students first?

"How about putting American students first?"

You sure came up with a radical idea--but I love the sound of it!

Of course an illegal alien should NOT have the same benefits as someone who is an actual citizen. Why is that so incomprehensible? I would not be surprised if she has already benefitted from free education, free school lunches, free food stamps, and/or free medical care, etc. It's this kind of mentality that is contributing to California going down the tubes economically.

Another poster stated that she wanted to go to the same school, too, but her parents could not afford it, so she went to a state university. I couldn't afford to go to anything other than a state university either, and I had to live at home while I went. That's life. And if I had to choose whether to provide a scholarship to an American citizen or an illegal alien, the citizen would win hands down.

That's my rant for the evening.

Isn't that kind of racist?

Why not let the free market reign? Let schools stand or fall by the tuition, without help from govt. Prices would plummet, as would salaries for professors, and we would have a better system. Of course that is a not possible with our current crop of Republican"masters". They parrot the line, we believe in the market, but they don't trust the system any more than the most radical socialist.
